Food Allergies and Intolerances Clinics

non-IgE mediated food allergies

All paediatric dietitians working with Rosan have additional specialist qualification to support children with IgE or/and non-IgE mediated food allergies. This includes single or multiple food allergies and dietitians in Rosan’s team have experience to also work with families with rare food allergies as well as oral allergy syndrome or pollen food syndrome.

Rosan and her team have been involved in the development of the milk/egg ladders since 2013 and are also at the forefront of food ladder supports for both IgE and non-IgE mediated food allergies.  They have significant experience in both milk and egg ladders for IgE mediated allergies and are actively supporting research on this topic. The team can also see children with Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES) and  they collaborate with several allergist who do oral immunotherapy.

The practice will also support children with coeliac disease with our paediatric specialist paediatric gastro dietitian, Natalie Yerlett.

It is thought that around 6 % of children in the UK have proven food allergies, but this figure may not reflect non-IgE mediated food allergies and certainly does not include children with food intolerances. Rosan and her team have been working with children with food allergies/intolerances for almost 30 years and have published numerous articles on nutritional adequacy, growth and feeding difficulties.

Rosan and her team work with specialists in food allergy, gastroenterology and dermatology, because appropriate allergy testing, elimination diet and food challenges are a critical part of the diagnostic process. In the field of food allergies/intolerances, it is essential that the right foods are eliminated, including hidden sources and that children are optimally managed (medically and nutritionally) and foods are replaced with nutritionally equivalent alternatives. However, what is equally important is that foods are not unnecessarily eliminated, which pose a nutritional risk as well. It is therefore so important to see a specialist allergy dietitian, that can help interpret results, knows alternative products and the nutritional contribution. Additionally, can guide, where appropriate the reintroduction of foods.

We are very happy to see children with food allergies/ intolerances but require a referral from a paediatric specialist to ensure that I have access to all of the test results and most importantly a colleague to feed back to, when further investigations are needed and also when a food challenge service is required.

Please see my contact details and referral criteria.
