Virtual Parent Group Sessions for 1-4 year olds with Feeding Difficulties

Dr. Polly James, Clinical Psychologist and Prof. Rosan  Meyer, Paediatric Dietitian have worked for many years in a variety of settings with children with feeding difficulties. They are joining forces to offer virtual parent group sessions for feeding difficulties in 1-4 year olds that may include:

  • Refusal of specific food groups (i.e. vegetables)
  • Spitting out of foods
  • Extended mealtimes
  • Child requiring distraction to eat
  • Eating only specific food textures

On registration, parents will recieve the following information to be completed prior to the virual group meeting:

  • 1 Lecture of 35 mins on the reasons that feeding difficulties occur
  • 1 lecture of 35 mins on how to manage feeding difficulties at home with practical tips that can be implemented prior to the virtual meeting.

There will be a 1 hour virtual meeting with Prof. Rosan Meyer and Dr. Polly James, that are limited to 8 parents. This virtual meeting alloes for parents to share their personal experience and posr further questions unique to their child’s feeding difficulties that have not been covered in the lectures.

Parents will be sent a post meeting assessment and once this has been completed, they will also receive a short handout with a summary of tips to help them manage their child’s feeding difficulties.

The cost of the course is £80.

Rosan has 2 video consultation clinics per week. Video consultations allow  for an assessment in the comfort of your home, whilst multiple parties can join the consultation. A video consultation also allows for a feeding assessment  within the home environment and immediate access to nutritional products/supplements. Growth measurements are taken from existing growth charts or parents can perform these using the following guidance at home. Rosan only takes patients that have been referred by a number of specific paediatric specialist to improve/increase the accuracy of the dietetic advice.

50 minute video consultation includes: > Assessment of the growth chart > Assessment of nutritional bloods (if available) > Clinical Assessment if Child Attends Consultation > Dietary Assessment > Dietary advice according to above information, including a written report. With consent from all parties, parents can also request that the consultation is recorded.
